  1. YAY! I love this. I just have a question or two…A) How many stitches would I cast on using worsted weight yarn and B) What length of circulars should I use? Sorry, the only contact I have to give you is my yahoo name. It's blue_chameleon2002

  2. ER…don't know anything about yahoo, so I hope you get this…For a worsted weight my best advice is to cast on 20 sts and do a gauge swatch, which I know is totally annoying, but it's the most accurate way to get what you want. To follow the rest of the pattern, you'll want the total number of sts to be divisible by 6.

Or you could wing it and try 84 sts. Use 4-5mm 16" circulars, or whatever your ball band recommends. 20" will work, but I find 16" more comfortable and versatile.

  3. ahh thank you…I'm totally not able to do the DP needles yet, but I love this hat. The blue_chameleon2002 is my email…just add @ yahoo.com on the end. πŸ™‚ I try to keep it simple.
I'm gonna go try this right now.:) Ill be back to let you know one way or the other. Have a great weekend!!

  4. This is beautiful and I want to try it but I only have size 10 circular needles and I've never used them before. I want to make a hat for my husband and he has a very large head. What would you suggest I do for this pattern?

  5. I don't understand how you can post a pattern without a gauge! I bought bulky weight yarn and am using size 10(6mm) needles and the circumference is only 16". It would be helpful to have a gauge and/or a circumference measurement to go by. This is coming out much too small.
    Disappointed.

  6. Hi, yes I like your patterns too. Do you have a pattern for a hat like the ones the elephants wear on the home page of your site??? Not sure what that hat is called, the kind with ear flaps?

  7. Hi Leslie, I have been working on an earflap (aviator) pattern for all ages, but it's in the testing phase so it will probably be a little while yet. I'll let you know when it's ready!

  8. So glad you liked it! And thanks for the links in your blog. πŸ˜‰ Lorna's Laces is quite nice, but there's nothing like alpaca for a slouch hat. Happy knitting!

  9. Working it in M&K ECO MULTIull medium gray variegated–gauge is 3 st/inch and 5 row/inch stockinette on 10.5mm circulars and seems to be fitting my big noggin just fine, so should fit my son's big noggin, too. GORGEOUS! Very easy pattern–for an experienced circular needle tuber this can be a nice car trip/nobrainer/watch the scenery and don't worry about counting project. Is working up quickly.
